Fallout 4 Gets a New, $350 Pip-Boy Edition

The Pip-Boy edition of Fallout 4 was a hot item last year, selling out quickly whenever it was in stock. Bethesda today introduced a new version, dubbed the Deluxe Bluetooth edition, that's available in limited quantities.

Unlike the previous version, this isn't something you plug your phone into. Instead, it has its own integrated screen and can connect with your phone (or tablet) over Bluetooth. This allows you to perform various phone functions--place calls, check text messages, or stream music. If you're not connected to an external device, the screen can still be used as an alarm clock or to display screens from the game (Status, SPECIAL, and Perks).

The device doesn't communicate with Fallout 4 in any way. "Most" of the buttons, dials, and knobs are said to work, according to a Bethesda store listing. The device weighs about two pounds and is "designed to fit most human arms," which is certainly reassuring.

The Pip-Boy comes with a charging stand that doubles as a speaker when the device is plugged in. It does not, however, include a copy of Fallout 4. The Pip-Boy Deluxe Bluetooth edition is priced at $350. Only 5,000 are available for sale, and you'll need to be in the US, Canada, or Australia to order one, which you can do at Bethesda's store.
